For the last 16 years, Western Canada Fashion Week has celebrated the incredible talent that exists within our community’s fashion industry – and beyond. Edmonton has played host to 30 brilliant seasons of vibrant and diverse fashion shows, and with our 31st season just a few weeks away, we’re thrilled to once again have our city welcome some of fashion’s most exciting local and international designers, models, and industry professionals to the WCFW runways.
One of the most anticipated shows during WCFW is the Emerging Designer showcase, which features the winners of our Emerging Designer Competition. The search for up-and-coming designers is a highlight for our team – and this unique showcase is one of the hottest tickets during fashion week. With a noteworthy list of previous winners that include Sid Neigum, Caitlin Power, and Jessica Halabi, it’s not a surprise that these shows attract a lot of attention from the fashion industry and media.
Providing a platform for new designers is a key mission for WCFW, and we are proud to have helped launch successful careers within our community. Whether it’s opening boutiques and starting online clothing lines, or having an internationally recognized label sold around the world like Sid Neigum – WCFW offers industry renowned support that can take designers as far as they can dream.
This year, WCFW is excited to announce our three distinct Emerging Designers that will be featured in our Fall/Winter 2019 showcase; first place winner Gian Salvador, second place winner Mona Mohamed, and third place winner Francis Tungul (ISKO CO.). Each designer will be presenting their collections on March 21st at the ATB Financial Arts Barns. In addition to making their runway debut, they will also recieve a variety of gifts from our generous sponsors.
